March 23rd is National Puppy Day. We always say we have the BEST customers and we love hearing their incredible stories. Today, we want to spotlight someone who truly embodies kindness and care especially when it comes to her furry companions. Meet Suzie, Cameo's human. A devoted pet parent who not only takes care of her dog's health with our Tiny Diabetic Treats but also opened her heart up to adoption.
Suzie's journey with the Old Dog Cookie Company started back in 2017 with her diabetic dog Oreo (also featured on our Facebook site). Fast forward a few years and in January of 2019 Suzie Adopted Cameo from the Bichon and Little Bundles Rescue in Wisconsin. Cameo was about 18 months and had been found wondering the streets of downtown Milwaukee. The rest they say is history for this pawsome duo. Suzie tells us Cameo is very sweet, loves chasing critters, watching out the window, she LOVES TO EAT, and especially loves car rides with her human, "it's her favorite thing to go bye-bye in the car." While Cameo is not diabetic, she does have a thyroid condition. Suzie told us, "I feed Cameo Old Dog Tiny Diabetic Treats because they are low calorie, Cameo loves the crunch, and I love that the treats are a way to help prevent her from getting diabetes. With her Thyroid condition I don't want to add another condition to Cameo's health. Shipping is always prompt and customer service is just superb!"
National Puppy Day is more than just a celebration - it's a call to action. Adopting a dog (like Cameo) is an incredibly rewarding experience, but it's also a commitment that requires responsibility. Just like Cameo, many dogs in shelters are waiting for the chance to experience love and care. Old Dog Cookie Company is proud to be part of Suzie's journey with Cameo, providing treats that help Cameo with weight management, are low-calorie, and have low gylcemic benefits but still packed with nutrients like unsweetened applesauce (for high fiber), kelp (supports thyroid), and dandelion root (helps reduce blood sugar). On this day, we want to also encourage others to consider adopting as well be mindful of the unique nutritional needs that some pets have and even the nutritional needs of aging dogs.
Adopt, fill out an application to become a Foster pet parent or even donate to a local shelter. If you did not know, the Old Dog Cookie Company rescued our very own "Rosie" 2 years ago from the New England Lab Rescue. She is literally the most lovable dog and brings us so much comfort and joy each day.
Pamper your own pup today, teach them a new trick, groom your dog, take a walk, and look at photos of when they were a puppy.
Support Small Business. If you have a dog with a specific health need look for products that are tailored to their requirements - just like our diabetic and arthritis treats.
As we celebrate this day, lets take a moment to honor the bond between people and their pets, and reflect on how we can make the world a better place for our furry companions. For Suzie and Cameo, as their journey together continues the Old Dog Cookie Company is grateful to be a part of it and we can't wait for more photos and stories of their time together. Cameo you are truly one lucky dog and Suzie one special person!!
