Our dogs in times of stress

What a week it's been!!  People are stressed, feeling uncertain and there is not really an end in sight!  Schools and Universities are closed, parents are working from home, and everyone is "distancing" and trying to stay healthy.  Our daily routines have changed and we are trying to deal with our new normal.

Thank goodness for our pets.  They are our constant right now.  They remind us that we can rely on them to cheer us up in times of need and stress.  At Old Dog our daily walks with our dogs get us out of the house and give us a chance to observe our environment.  Just this morning Spirit and I saw two fat Robins.  This is a sure sign of warmer weather to come here in Maine.  We sometimes walk with friends too (of course observing the 6' rule).  Maintaining our sense of community is so important now as we depend on each other to self quarantine and also to help take care of each other.

Spirit's routine besides daily walks includes a daily game of "hide and seek".  We hide one of her stuffed animals and she delights in retrieving.  Olive is enjoying having her family home and she is overseeing homeschooling :).  Lola, our youngest Old Dog is learning new skills like "paw" and "roll over" and assisting with home gym class (her favorite)!  For us our "Old Dogs" have always been our colleagues but right now for our families they are providing even more.  They provide us humor throughout the day,  they are the stars of our virtual meetings, the cure to our mid-afternoon slump and the cutest assistants we will ever have!  Try to use this time to spend extra time with your dog.  They may enjoy extra grooming, extra walks, more playtime of course and extra snuggle time.  These simple joys will bring you and your dog more joy, laughter, more constant, and hopefully a little less daily stress.

Our pets have always been our best friends and we need them in our lives now more than ever.  ODCC is sending good vibes to all!  Here are our assistant rockstar's in action.  We would love for you to share a photo of yours!  Please email is at info@olddogcookie.com so we can share all the Rockstars out there and provide some much needed daily smiles (and maybe a few extra treats to some lucky Rockstars!)
