COVID-19

To our Old Dog families,

As efforts to contain COVID-19 continue, we hope you're supported in taking every measure to protect your health and the health of those around you.  At Old Dog Cookie Co. we want you to know are doing our part and following CDC guidelines when packaging your orders.  We are in contact with our bakers to ensure sanitation and proper hygiene is used at all times around our products.

There is a lot of information circulating about pets and COVID-19.  We wanted to provide our pet parents with some helpful links and further information as we all learn about the Coronavirus together.  The below sites contain information and answers to many questions we all have.

"What every pet parent needs to know about the Coronavirus" by Loyal Companion

Pet parents should include your pet(s) in emergency planning.  You should consider items you may need for your pet over the next few weeks.  Not just food.  With my family home for a few weeks we will be taking more walks and getting out of the house.  In New England with temperatures starting to rise ticks will be out.  So I have made sure to include tick medication as one of the supplies we have on hand.

At the Old Dog directly it's still business as usual but please understand that we are a small business and things could change quickly that are out of our control.  Although we process orders very quickly your shipping times could be affected and delayed by USPS and UPS as they try to figure out how to run their companies during this time.  You may have heard that Amazon is prioritizing shipments of "household staples".  Amazon does not currently consider our treats a household staple and therefore is not accepting further Old Dog stock (at this point until April 5th).    We hope our current customers will spread the word to those new on the diabetic dog journey to visit us directly at olddogcookie.com (vs Amazon for now) for information as well as purchasing treats for their diabetic dog.   We encourage you to check your own stock but be mindful that we have lots of customers to service.  If we feel it's necessary to limit quantities we will do so.  We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Although our pets do not know what COVID-19 is, some will be affected.  It's likely that a pet will lose their human.  It's also possible our shelters could become full over the next few months.  Please consider contacting your local shelter during this time to see if they need supplies or consider a financial donation.  If you know someone with a pet that is self isolating see if you can help in a way that is safe for you and them.  We have provided a card that might be useful.

This is a challenging time for many.  Personally, I have already seen communities and even my own neighborhood coming together as one.  We hope you embrace some added time home with your pet.  They truly treasure our time.  They are great listeners and snuggle buddies in times of stress.  Please continue to take of yourself, your family, and of course your fur baby!

Stay well,

Kristen Hall
